I think it allows you to run XBMC.

The ATV2 is jailbreakable on the latest firmware  :pomppomp:

Get the latest Seas0nPass version to jailbreak it then decide what you want to install

I run a PLEX server so the Plex client was a must, then XBMC for all the streaming options

Its not as easy to install PLEX and XBMC on a ATV without using puTTy to manually installe the required files but not too major  :happy2:

Yeap, iPlayer, ITV Player, CatchupTV are just some of the options available via XBMC

I'm running 5.0.2 (ioS 5.1.1) and I use the latest Seas0nPass it downloads the ISPW and installs it on the ATV2 in DFU mode, but then when it launches iTunes to restore the IPSW , iTunes always fails to fully restore it with an error saying 1604 or something.

Not sure what else to try?>

What are the movies like when jail broken?

And does the American cable channels work ?

Wouldn't mind being able to watch some American programmes months before they are released here

Have you tried restoring it to 5.0.2 normally and get it back to standard, then try the jailbreak again.

I've had this problem, a clean restore resolved the issue

You won't get the US channels to work unless you can run a VPN on your router.

However XBMC gives you access to loads of movies and US series that are not in the UK yet

I'm tempted but £200+ for a second hand one is a bid mad considering the latest one is only £99.

The jailbreak is the only thing that makes the apple tv attractive as I already have a smart tv
