Autograph Golf GTI
« on: May 22, 2009, 07:41:13 pm »
Just seen a mini review of this in the new EVO magazine.

MKV Golf tuned to 305bhp and 298lbft.

They are claiming a top speed of 170mph and 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds. That makes it faster than the Focus RS :evilgrin:

The full upgrade package is £7995 fitted on top of the car. For that I'm assuming they start with an Edition 30, otherwise it is a cracking deal. Also the cheeky buggers have included TAR-OX 10 pot brakes in the upgrade - copycats :signLOL:

I got the link direct from the EVO mag, so it must be them :happy2:

170mph seems a little ambitious.

I have the Performance car magazine and they are comparing the Focus RS, Revo's Cupra, The Scooby STi and the Renaultsport Megane R26.R

Renault = 60mph in 5.8sec, 100mph in 14.9sec, 140mph in hahahahaaaaa didn't make it
Focus = 60mph in 6 sec, 100mph in 14.2sec, 140mph in 36.1sec, top speed 146.3 mph
Scooby = 60mph in 5.3 sec, 100mph in 13.1sec, 140mph in 36.1 sec, top speed 145.3 mph
Cupra = 60mph in 5.7 sec, 100mph in 12.5sec, 140mph in 26.9 sec , top speed 158.4 mph

Top speed done in 2 mile run.

Quote from magazine

"When it comes to in-gear muscle we find ourselves once again in Revo's realm. Put simply (with the exception of 20-40mph in fifth where the lowdown grunt and gearing of the Focus nosed ahead) the Leaon was the quickest over every speed increment and in every gear, more often than not by a significant margin. Even saying that doesn't do justice to the way in which this car accellerates though. Never mind what gears you're in or what revs you're holding, because it won't matter. From 1500rpm there's decent shove. At 2500rpm this turns to enough urge to push you into the seat back. Then, when the needle touches 3000rpm the real show begins, the Leon switching into a whole new realm of accelleration that doesn't even think about dropping off until 6500rpm. I can't think of many other cars that would make for better overtaking machines"

My point....even a 360bhp Revo car cannot get to 170mph in 2 miles, so the Autograph claim is a little "overambitious" :laugh:

That will have been about 170 on the speedo, maybes thats what there going off??

Just as a little comparison mine was hitting best part of 116mph in 12.6 so would be interesting to see what the 0-100mph is!! 92mph is done in 8.2 seconds so maybes around 10??

Hehe.. Love my little Golf!!  :laugh:

that 170mph figure is an estimate don't forget, so they've probably just bigged themselves up a bit but haven't actually tested to see what it will max out at.

Great bunch of guys, they are doing some work on my car. Also testing out a d valve with no electric supply with a very strong spring inside, which is suposed to retain boost better throughout the rev range and react quicker on the throttle, which is probably similar to the forge one that is being developed. :rolleye:

Was taken out in that Cupra today and can confirm the in-gear acceleration of the thing was like nothing I have ever experienced from a FWD car before  :scared: :scared: :scared:

My mate had an indicated 170 on his stage 1 Bluefinned ED30 on the 'bahn this weekend - maybe not the 2 mile lark, but they're hugely capable.
Sideways yo!

It certainly sounds like there are a few developments being carried out in several quarters in the TFSI tuning world eh? :happy2:

The REVO car is very fast, but in the test it still had to make do without a Quaife LSD (at the moment anyway!). Give a car even more capability of going quick (DSG instead of manual, put it on a diet and a Quaife) and you end up with Jonny's car. I personally would really like to see what a big turbo'd DSG car is fully capable of in the UK when taken to it's ultimate conclusion. :jumping:

Jonny, when are you going to get yours on the rollers?...

30th.. Its going on the DD rollers at RS tuning in Leeds.. They are very accurate as far as I can tell (dont give spurious huge figures) so I should have a reasonable idea as to what the car is actually running!
