My Candy White GTI
« on: June 12, 2012, 01:45:52 pm »
Hey guys,

Been looking around on here and edition, some of you may recognise the username or the car from there. Thought i'd pop over and post a thread up!!

So I've owned the GTI for around 12 months now and still loving every second I get to drive it.  The car was totally stock when I bought it and was a lease car from the local VW dealership. I bought it with 33k miles on the clock. You'll have to excuse the quality of some of the pictures i've taken, iphone quality and all that!

The day I picked her up...

That weekend was a heavy session with a mop and some cutting compound to get the paint up to it's full potential. Soo hard to make a white car shine!

Shortly after picking her up, I had confirmation that my private numberplate could be fitted so gave her a quick wash and fitted the plate.

Next up was a little bit of carbon for the interior. I often see the carbon interior strips but never the matching steering wheel post, so I did it the other way around, lol....

After a few months of kicking around and enjoying it I decided it was time to start collecting parts, went up to the local VW dealership and ordered a US spec GTI rear bumper. Couldn't believe it when it came in, they had actually ordered the right one

Fitted

I then decided that i wanted to get hold of a legal UK (US spec numberplate) eBay did the job nicely.

Next update was the Carbon door inserts. Only have a Instagram picture at the moment so that will have to do. Lol.

The GTI came with the silly 6-slot CD player, so looked around and Omar sorted me out with a few OEM upgrades; RNS510, Multifuctional buttons & cruise control.

About 6 months ago this arrived in my garage. To say i was excited was an understatement. Just needed to sort out when it was going to be fitted.

Airlift XL Slam kit, complete with easystreet digital management, 2 x 380C Vair compressors and a 5 gallon stubby tank.

Didn't want to consider fitting the air with the standard Monza GTI wheels so ordered some BBS CH's to replace the Monza's

Then, the air was fitted :P

Also had the controller fabricated into the sunglass holder as my Ray Bans were too big and wouldn't fit in.

This thread is bang up to date now. Stick around i'm sure you'll all enjoy the ride ;)

Ellis.

Quick wash on the weekend and my mate grabbed a snap as i was closing the boot.

Also realised the car was that rigid it could 3 wheel by the use of air.

Few pictures I took after work last night...

Next up is probably a milltek, other than that just enjoy it untill i decide on some new wheels!

Current wheel specs. 8" x 18" ET42. 225/40/18 :)

Enjoy..

Forget the milltek with air ride.

you won't be able to lower it that far as the rear box needs about stock ride height clearance

Don't colour code the bottom half, leave it as is.. Looks absolutely terrible on white cars unless its an Edition 30!! Already know i love this from my comments on e38

Totally agree with you there Josh!!!!!!

Air ride is amazing, well worth the dosh if you can afford it. No unfortunately Luke didn't do it, he wanted in the region of £6k to supply and fit, ended up getting the kit second hand and then getting a mate to fit it.

Cheers mate! Slammed and tuck is the look at the moment. Total cost for the airride / setup is in the region of just over £2k, bought the airride for £1800 £300 to fit and about £100 for the controller and petrol to pick the car up and lifts and that...

Hope this helps

Ellis....
