Revo or Pdt custom?
« on: June 09, 2012, 01:01:08 pm »
Was just about to contact pdt this morn to book my eddy in for a custom remap when a friend has just informed me that I could have a trial Revo stage one for free? Never knew this was an option so it's going in next sat for the Revo stage one and then it's decision time. Not planning on going stage 2 etc. any views on which map to go for?

iirc Revo no longer do trials but do offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the map.

Revo trials no longer exists, Revo offer no support for them as a product.

We are Revo dealers and offer our own software, I would gladly offer you a trial of our software and flash it with Revo and offer a 30 day trial period with a 100% money back guarantee on both options.

Dave.

I see, His name is Allen Fishburn and runs the mk4 golf centre in Darlington when I spoke to him he just mentioned to me that his still had the Revo trail software on laptop and would put it on my eddy for 5 hours I think he said. as its just round the corner from me thought it was a good idea?

Don't bother with trial, it's nothing like full map... Use the 30day money back, but you won't use it!  ;-)

Well I tried the Revo 5hr free trial and it's like a car totally pleased with the extra power that is there. I will be getting the real map done in the next few weeks. Was just curious to see if other Revo customers have had any parts fail due to the extra power gains or parts I should consider to strengthen the cars components?

Mind if u get the map off alan, you don't get any datalogging or rolling road logging either.
Components will be fine with stage 1 remap

What are the advantages with data logging (new to this)?

With revo you can adjust fuelling timing and boost levels to suit your car. Every car has different settings to optimise the potential of the remap. I.e some cars can run different timing and boost levels with the engine being happy with where you set them, others aren't. If you go to alan, he'll set your car at base levels and send you on your way, maybe check your car with vcds to check for fault codes.
Other revo dealers will check with vcds, do a rolling road before remap, test different settings on the rolling road, when settings are found where the readings are healthy, another rolling road will be done to see what power your car now makes. Then a test drive and data logging to see how the readings are on the road.
I know what I would prefer....
Rolling road graphs also help to show whether there are and dips etc which can also highlight other problems that you car may possibly have that won't always show up with a vcds scan.
