This now looks like its a very unfortunit faulure.....

Timing cover removed and noticed that there was a securing screw missing from the inside from what looks like to be part of the breather unit.
Looks like the screw has come out and been rattling round with the timing chain, got jammed in the chain and possibly caused the timing chain to jump a tooth (or two!).

The head is now being removed to se what damage it has done  :sad1:

I also need to get my hands on a cam lock tool for the 1.4TSI  :sick:
