Spark plugs
« on: June 13, 2012, 09:25:04 am »
I need to change the plugs in my standard 05 GTI but the price i just got from the dealers wasnt great.

Can I get OEM spark plugs from a motor spares shop as i assume they'd be a bit cheaper?

Can anyone tell me what type/make the standard plugs are for a GTI so i can get the right ones?

Cheers

Stock plugs are a little cheaper from your local factors, but ebay always ends up being the cheapest.

Thanks guys.

Are the NGK Iridium ones ok for a non mapped GTI though??

Dealers in belfast want £12 for each one - bit steep...

Hi Folks, sorry to interject, are we suggesting that a mapped Golf needs different spark plugs?

Andrew

just ones that run slightly colder - to be honest with you stage 1 and probably stage 2 and oem plugs will cope but then anything higher would probably most definitely need different plugs

Yeah you'll be fine - although to be honest for the sake of £20 you may aswell change them atleast then your running fresh sparks with your new map  :happy2:
