Just put the boy to bed, took his dirty nappy out to chuck in the bin and i thought i'd just have a once round the girl to check no cnut had put a fresh scratch in it - if only...  :sad1:

I was horrified to be met with the following damage to the driver's side rear   :scared:

Whichever moronic cnut has done this has made a complete mess of the alloy, going in really deep in 3 places, managed to rub the side wall of the rear tyre and take a chunk of rubber out of the tread by about 3mm and then gone on to do relatively minor damage in the scheme of things to the inside of the rear arch though i say minor, the paintwork is completely off in places.

I just don't understand...

Is the damage to either the alloy or the tyre cause for concern in terms of running the car? Definitely need to do a refurb now - if it will actually refurb, maybe it's beyond repair and i'll need to buy a new one... either way i cannot bear to look at that mess, so it's not staying like that for long   :sad1:

Gutted for you. I can sort of work out that the tyre, left scratch and spoke are related as they are almost straight line yet the right scratch at the bottom of the spoke/rim wouldn't have been part of that. It's too far from that straight line. JMHO.

fresh scratch as in, every time i wash it i find some new damage to it, the previous one was a weird dent to the front wheel arch. I'm still thinking it is idiot drivers - i live in London and folks can't drive for sh1t. Whilst i could never really rule it out i doubt it is some sort of envy as there's a dude on our street who has an Audi R8 and there's another slightly younger Golf GTI on the street too.

I'm so gutted, all i can do is shake my head in disbelief. I can't really fathom it either. I'm guessing a van, likely one of the supermarket ones, the drivers of those really don't give a sh1t and there's no way they are gonna leave a note on the car with insurance details  :fighting:

ah has been mentioned above, it does look like a curbed alloy, but anything is possible! Without sounding like PC Plod, has anybody else driven the car over the past while??

The guy really wouldn't post a thread like this if there was any chance he thought he did it himself.  :stupid:

The wheel should fill fairly easily. If not, im sure there are loads of spares going fairly cheaply.

I know how you feel though mate. I find something new everyday.  :chicken: :chicken:

  • "Every great journey starts with a single step.."

You can tell it's definitely happened while the car is stationery from this photo as it shows that something has just scraped across the wheel.  It is a shame that some people just don't care about other people's property.

Even though you must be raging at the moment, it will get sorted out and you will quickly forget about it once it's sorted.

Keep your chin up.  It's something we all have to live with because we do care.

That's absolutely horrendous, I assume it was parked on the road???  :scared:

Could it have been a push bike at high speed, or a motorbike?
