Air con/climate good will?
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:16:46 pm »
I still have a Problem with my air con/climate control, fault reported by kwick fit that the seals have gone on the pipes used to connect the re gas pipes to hence why they could not find the leak when testing, had a full refund  :happy2:

Now, are their any known problems with such items on the mk5 gti models thatbi can mention to vw customer services and has anyone had goodwill from their dealer who down the fix free or at a reduced rate? I will need to book it in for £50 diagnostics with vw to find the fault which ok to pay myself but just wondering on the potential more expensive bit!!!

My tiger question is,  If it is what kwick fit say it is can these seals just be replaced or will whole section/parts need replacing?

My motor has full vwsh and a 2006 plate.

Any info most welcomed.

Goodwill is done on a matrix system and here's how it works
°does the car have full dealer history? Yes/no? If no does it have dealer history since the current owner has owned the car?
°age of the car if it's over 6 years old your get nothing, if it's between 5 and 4 years 4 and 3 years etc etc....
°mileage of the car

Now if the car is over 60 k and over 4 years I doubt your get anything, it's general wear and tear I'm afraid.
Goodwill is based purly on customer loyalty, I used to get all sorts of people coming in with 2004/2006 plate cars with 80k on the clock demanding Vw pay towards the costs of the repair for a gearbox.problem etc...cars that have no vw history! It annoyed me when they all a sudden appear when something goes wrong asking for help when they haven't been loyal to the brand,

Now it could be worth speaking to vw about it but your be very very lucky to get anything with the age of the car (millage depending) and we used to just discount the job ourselves without applying for goodwill, it saves time and hassle to just reduce labour and parts costs  :drinking:

Hope this helps
Jack

Depending on what the total price will be for your repair, it might be worth speaking to VW and PLEADING your case!! I had to have my steering rack replaced last year on my 2005 GTi, so just over 6 years old, and VW wanted to charge me £1450.00, but after many many calls to VW Customer Services, and a number of miniscule offers, they finally brought the total price down to £850.00, not quite a result but did soften the blow a tad!! Would i go through all that again if i were faced with a new fault that cost perhaps £500.00, no (depending on what the fault was of course), but heh, if you don't ask you don't get!!

Like Jack says, dealer loyalty counts for a hell of a lot. I was given a brand new Scirocco as a courtesy car for nearly a month while they diagnosed a problem on my car. Said problem ended up costing roughly £150 to fix, so not much in it for them. However, I have bought several cars from them and every time anything needs doing they're the garage I go to. It does make me laugh when people complain about dealer service when they have no relationship with them*

* bit of a generalisation and I do realise its only fair to comment on a case by case basis.

Ok thanks all. Car is Dec 2006 i think so would this be within the limit or do vw go by jan-jan on year?

It has 97k with fvwsh,  I am third owner and it was bought from the local dealer by the first owner. I bought it from the dealer head mechanic who got it when it came in as a part ex. It's all in very good condition with everything done by vw dealer.

Based on what you all say don't hold out much hope in getting goodwill then unfortunately due to age and mileage  :scared:

At nearly 100 K you have no chance  :sad1:
Best vet would be to speak to Vw customer care, these are the guys wich make "exceptions"  but even then your chances are thin,
