« on: June 14, 2012, 08:29:57 pm »
Has anyone used these pads for the r32 brakes? How do they perform also there is another option called yellow stuff which is the 1 to go for?

Stay away from ebc pads.  They wear really fast and wear discs fast too.  The ebc discs are ok though.

Stick with mintex, ferodo or pagid.

Do you mean the usual mintex or pagid as found in euro car parts or their performace pads?

EBC pads = shocking! AVOID.

I'd sooner buy and run cheap pattern pads than anything made by EBC. Greenstuff fade at the slightest sniff of heat, red stuff are dead when cold then have little heat resilience, and yellow stuff........ don't even get me started on them.

Their MTB pads are equally terrible - did a single downhill run in the Alps and it consumed a complete set of pads! Normally get a few days out of pads.

Do you track the car?

If not, OEM is probably the best compromise.

Diminishing returns with pads, like most parts, so a set of Pagid RS (whatever compound)if they're made in R32 size, will be a pricey proposition.

Note that technically if you fit a non e90 pad (DS2500 for instance) your pads are not legal for road use. I do find this a bit funny, as if you're running non-standard brakes (calipers and discs) on a car, you've already changed the brakes from the OEM performance so what difference does a higher or lower friction pad make?? :rolleye:

careful with the ds2500, they are only legal (and therefore insurable on the road)  if your using a non oem brake set-up.

Im looking to the m1144 possibly. But standard stuff has been awesome thus far.

Do euro car parts have standard S3/R32 pads?

Avoid standard pagids as well, mine lasted 2 days in the 135i before giving up, poor initial bite and once they heat a little there is no pedal feel.

Im going back to Brembo pads.

This ^^^^^

OEM pads you can get for about 50 quid.

Performance pads are ~150

Pagid rs4-2 are about 220 quid.

Also, performance pads will probably squeak.... Which is annoying.
