4 wheel alignment/uneven tyre wear

Had my car aligned last September, so have hit a fair few pot holes since then 

I noted the wear on my front n/s inner tyre is worse than the outer trim, but am running negative camber with the TT wishbones.

I was going to have the alignment done again after 12 months as at over £100.00 a go every 6 months seems excessive. Is it advisable to have it done more often than 12 months though to save scrubbing your tyres if you have changed the oem settings on camber/toe etc?

could rotate your tyres instead? spread the wear around instead of getting an alignment every 6 months?

yeah thats the thing the wear on the front offside is nowhere near as bad.

yup, should swap them over i guess until get re aligned in september.

£100 a go?! 

where abouts are you? because thats silly money for alignment!

i pay 30 for all four tires need adjusting (15 for check and one adjustment free, fiver for every adjustment thereafter) they use a corghi laser system with before and after printouts with the golf selected so they use the correct 'data'

thats with 'tyres r us' based in Erdington in Birmingham...

apples12 - my guess is that he's getting a full geometry check done on a Hunter machine (or the like) for £100 while, your £30 is the bog standard 'do they look straight' check.

Sounds like the toe has been knocked out slightly on one side.  The back end of the car and one wheel is probably still as it should be, but to drive the car straight that one tyre that is out slightly is scrubbing.

£100 is the higher range of alignment cost.

Camber isn't really what kills tyres, but incorrect toe will do more damage.  The combination of lots of camber and toe out on the front can kill tyres very fast.
