225/40/18 Supersports on the way.....
« on: June 17, 2012, 03:23:49 pm »
As spotted on the new M135i due in autumn. Checked the BMW spec sheet and it confirmed the 225/40/18 XL sticky hoops of win are on the front!

Sideways yo!

How will they compare to the F1v2?

+1. I've just stuck a couple of F1v2 tyres. Was going to replace the rest of the tyres so it was the same all round.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I hope so, PSS in 225/40/18 have been listed on the Michelin UK site for some time now but the computer says non at my local Costco  :fighting:

The M135i I was poking around yesterday had Bridgestone Potenzas on though...

I believe you can opt-out of runflats, and the SS is what you get instead. Could be tripe, but that's what BMW have told me.

Oh, and it's the replacement for the old PS2 - but slightly stickier, so may not wear as well. Expect very hard sidewalls and outstanding dry grip.

I still have the marketing guff for the PSS that Michelin sent me 12 months ago, if you believe the claims it has both better grip AND treadwear (300) which is significantly higher than the PS2 it has replaced...  :happy2:

I've been badgering Michelin UK almost weekly for the date of the 92Y XL release in the UK as the states have had them for almost 6 months now!  :fighting:

A set of 4 in 225/40/18 works out at £470 ish in the states but the cost of shipping and the potential lack of 'E' rating plus the ballache should you get an unrepairable puncture means i'm reluctant to pull the trigger so need Michelin to get their act together as my PS3 are shot!

m135i will come on run flats with 'regular' tyres as an option apparently  :happy2:
