My MK5 Journey
« on: June 17, 2012, 04:35:02 pm »
Hi

Just bought myself a mk5 golf GT TDI
Has been mapped by previous owner to 190BHP
Is currently on AP coilovers and Genuine R32 alloys
Have just got myself some 19" Bentleys to go on it too (5 spokes not splits :( )

Am hoping to put a jetta or Gti front end on it too at some point then just enjoy it
Am a fan of the 60mpg average I've had so far

Any tips on where to get new bits/ GTi front end/ Jetta Front

Ollie

Yeah you're rite

Since I posted that I've had a Jetta Front bumper of a local member with a front grill (which has now been de-plated and painted body coloured)

Need to 'joey' my headlights now to make the front end more tough for when I fit the front end next week.

Also picked up some Bentleys so will trial fit a couple of them before they go off to be powdercoated (From Black to Silver)

Also picking up a RCD 310 tomorrow, so if anyone has any tips of where I can get an updated canbus then that would also be great.

My biggest problem is lows!

I've got the helpers out of the rear and i'm all the way down at the front, but still can't get the thing low enough

Are there any top mount raisers etc I can get for a mk5?

Had a few modded Vw's

My Corrado Toy (Having an engine conversion)

Old Raddo Daily (Gone)

Love the white Caddy and particularly the dark red Corrado Toy!  :congrats: :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

But, personally, I hate Bentley alloys on Mk5's - Ostentatious bling ain't my thing! Posing is, yes, but not bling.

But each to their own and a warm welcome!  :happy2:

Just found this thread

Didn't realise I had replies - Thanks for the kind words about my past and present cars

Bit of History about my current progress with the mk5 then

Started out looking like this

which was a nice starting point

Was then made a little lower and was a good daily hack

Went Bentleys for a bit

But didn't like the black and then kind of lost my love for them after not really being able to get my car to sit low enough with just the screw mod
So instead I put those up for sale and changed the front end instead

Decided I wanted something nice to sit on
So went to see Steve

His car made mine look rubbish

But my drive home was made nicer by these

Liked the rear bumper he had on his (I always envisaged getting an R32 bumper and smoothing the exhaust plinth, or failing that getting a votex one)

So went back to see him again and bought this

Waiting for another day off work now to change my canbus and fit an RCD 310 so I can use mp3 cd's and better sound quality

Then it's the toss up between starting to collect parts for air or new wheels

What do you think of my progress so far?

Ollie

Indeed it was, sorry

Wanted to go and pick up some air ride to get an install going for after Christmas.

Unfortunately money had had to be spent elsewhere, which is a bit disappointing.

Guess the whole air ride thing might not have been the most sensible for a 10K a year daily anyway? (That's what I'm telling myself anyway to lessen the blow)

Have however done a deal with a friend with a few bits and prices so should be new wheels on this week (should be taking flash wheels off for winter, but that's not what I tend to do).

Might also be on the look out for a new bonnet so I can have the front end painted after Christmas ( anyone know of a united grey one about)
