.
What I like about the R32 rear design is that it visually picks up on the side valances:

The R32 bumper also has exhaust pipe cut-outs which allow for various configurations including the OEM GTI twin tips:

^ Shabba168's recently done ^

And to add another spanner to the works, I came across this picture of the R32 rear with concealed pipes which I quite liked.

I love the clean look. You can get the insert from srs tech.. Always wanted a quad exhaust on mine but I really do like the clean look, it has really grown on me the past few weeks, especially as the one on srs's site is a laser blue one

Thanks for the replies guys. I think r32 rear wins it. If i buy a rear r32 bumper it will have to be original with the exhausts in the centre. R32 rear makes the car look much beefer in my opinon

the whole point of modifying cars is that we take a car built for the masses and modify it to our own tastes. if we all had the same tastes it would  be a fairly boring art

....Sorry, I know many of you have seen this pic before but it is particularly relevant:

I do much prefer the R32 look to the GTI.
But at shows most people mod the rear by putting an R32 rear on, so I opted for something a bit different.

If you don't want it to look just like an R32 from the rear you could always smooth the joint lines or slightly fill it to make them more like a pinstripe.

Here's mine currently:

Mainly love the symmetry of having the central exhaust too.

I have to admit I do rather like the smooth option ala Top Cat, but I also like the curved half colour coded standard gti rear - but as I just ha it done I would be a little bias

VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

....Al, with your rear end as it is, I would be inclined to remove the side valances to continue that smooooth look.

I like symmetry too, which is partly why I took up the offer of Milltek quads way back in 2005.

Do you mean the side skirts or the rub strips Robin?
I do plan to smooth the doors, and would like to put the votex side skirts on at some point soon.

....I meant side skirts (VW call them valances IIRC). In other words you need only remove them and not need any replacement.

Would have to have the bars removed, welded and painted then
(in other words, a lot of £££)

I'd go R32 rear but with a GTi splitter/valance that's what I want to do think it looks awesome!

Hope you pull it off in the end
