Machine polishing hints and tips
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:37:22 am »
Thanks to a couple of flying elephants, i've got multiple etchings on the roof and bonnet of our golf.

I want to try and get hold of a DA or rotary and some training and have a go at getting them out, and giving the rest of the car a polish

however, i dont want to spend money on pads and polishes i dont need.

so what are the best pads and polishes to use on a metallic black golf?

thanks

Have a look into the meguires MF system its a very straight forward system to use and also very forgiving great introduction to detailing imo

Also check youtube... plenty of videos on there. General rule of thumb is to start slow then increase if the results aren't coming.

That is where I learnt from. Anything else I got from a friend or from Nath at DMR.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

thanks for those, i think i read them a while ago, but a refresher never hurts :)

any reccomendations on polishes and pads??

will lime prime be enough to get rif of general swirling and etching, or am i going to need something more serious to get rid of that and then something to really put the gloss in?
