(that is also proof to me that the car dips the clutch when stopping - because you can feel it doing it if you leave it in D and put the handbrake on.)i'd never coast in N in any car lol. am i right in thinking you leave the car in "D" and put the handbrake on rather than your foot brake?no that's what i'm saying - i don't use the handbrake. i know in terms of rear end shuting and courtesy to drivers behind me it's not the best practice, but on my car at least when you're stationary and you put the handbrake on the car strains against it for a few seconds before settling down. anyhow i've read a bit more of what T_T has written on that other forum and he's said that apparently it's ok to leave it in D for "short periods" as this is what VAG advise - but no mention as to what duration a "short period" is. here's the thread:http://www.r32oc.com/general-chat/11099-how-use-dsg-gearbox.htmlthe long and short of it is that i don't think rich's driving style has anything to do with the symptoms he's experiencing which, to me, sounds like a mechatronics fault. if his car is around '07 then i believe he's in the right age band for the faulty batch that went out and failed.
