ARB links
« on: June 19, 2012, 07:38:09 pm »
I fitted new ARB links to the front a couple of weeks ago as they were knocking.  The old old ones were shot and after fitting them I felt an immediate improvement in the ride and the front felt a lot firmer than before.  It got me thinking that if the fronts were shot, then the rears cant be that far behind.  So I set about fitting the rears today and was amazed at the improvement.  The whole car feels more responsive now and the rear end (forgive the phrase) has tightened up no end. My car had only covered 57,000miles and thats not a great deal for the ARB links to be worn out in.
For the cost it might be worth changing them as a service item every 40,000 miles, as they have made a massive improvement to the cars handling.  I am not bothering with uprated ARBS as the OE ones are more than enough and I do not want the car any firmer than it is now.

The rears only have one ball joint and a fixed joint with a rubber bush inside. The fronts have two ball joints and are a lot longer. Its amazing how such a small part can affect the handling of the car so dramatically.

I got Quinton Hazell arb links as they are made in britain and appear to be more robust and better manufactured than the oem item. The front  links were about £15 each and the rears were £16 each.
