I now have error g85 steering angle sensor! been to a Vw specialist and that have had it on the vag and done the re calibration, all seems connected basic settings done but just won't read any signals when the steering is moved.. So steering light in yellow and ESP light on.. And tyre pressure light on.. Could I have damaged anything have stripped it down again and re plugged it all still same problems! Would a new steering angle sensor solve my problem??? Hope you can help Adam.. Thanks

May have damaged something...it is possible but IMO your garage who scanned it should be doing more than telling you that you have a fault code  :stupid:
Anyone else you know that may be able to scan and run a fault finding? What did you do? Fit cruise control or summit? Could Do with a little more Info  :happy2:

Hi jack,

I have removed battery and steering wheel and airbag etc to replace my stalk with the new stalk that has the buttons to flick threw my mpg and miles etc on screen... For some reason when I purchased my golf gti this was not fitted but should have been? All connected perfect.. Just the steering sensor has been done basic settings via vag com but can not re calibrate because when the wheel is being turned to do it, it want pick up that it's moving!

Am pulling my hair out over Over it!!

I had the exact same issue around 8 months ago.

Never ended up taking it to VW they reset G85 and G218 i think it was G220 too.
My netbook's not working at present, so can't get all the notes. Search VCDS and basic settings G85.

Hi, the g85 has been reset and connect it just wont re calibrate when the steering wheel is moved the vag com won't detect movement.. No degrees.. If that makes sense there most be something I carnt have broken anything and it was all working perfect before I installed the new stalk with the buttons to select my mpg and miles.. But now I have this problem... Drivin me mad!

Sorry just read my previous post. I meant i had no luck reseting my G85 sensor either. So looked on VCDS website for error. You habe recalibrate G220 + G218 cant confirm these sensors at the moment. I never received any help from anyone on here.

Ended up taking it to vw, the recalibrated those 3 sensors and no issues since.
