Brembo BBK

Just fitting a Brembo BBK to the Pirelli and the discs won't fit with the oem stone guards !!! Is it ok to remove these and not refit.? What way or how have you over come this problem. Also the kit does not come with pad wear indicators like the oem set up so is this just a case of using a link wire to complete the circuit? Any help would be greatly appreciated   :sad1:

I've removed my stone guards for my big Porsche kit with no issues  :happy2:

Either code out the pad wear sensor with VCDS or loop the wire using the plug from your old brake pad  :smiley:

Thanks for the info, will run without stone guards and loop out pad wear sensor as I don,t have VCDS

I ordered the two peice 328 x 28 Brembo BBK and will get them fitted at the end of the month (If they arrive in time, been waiting months for them, but was advised they will leave Itally in mid June). I have seen pictures of them installed on a Pirelli and it seems the stone guards need to be removed. They look good behind the Pirelli Wheels. Can you let me know if there are any clearence issues between the wheels and calipers and if so what spacers are required?

Hi Paul,

I am not sure about the kit you are fitting but the ones I have are 355 x 32 Rotors and the Big Red Calipers and for sure these need a spacer to keep the standard Pirelli wheels I am using 10mm hub centric's to start with although I am planning to get some track day wheels that will hopefully accommodate these without the need for spacers  :party:

If the rims are 7.5" nothing fits without spacers

I went for the smaller of the Brembo Gran Turismo 2 Piece Disc BBK to limit any clearance issues as I wanted to keep the Pirelli wheels on the car and wanted to limit any spacer requirements as I wanted to limit any rubbing issues as I already have the Bilstein PSS10 kit installed so its sitting a bit lower than normal, the wheels are the standard Pirelli OEM Wheels which are 18” x 7.5” ET51.

I just checked out the Brembo site and the fitment guides and the larger 355 x 32 kit (1H1.80004A) needs a clearance from the centre bore of the wheel out between 122mm & 199mm of 41 mm + 3mm clearance (To clear the caliper).

The smaller 328 x 28 kit (1A1.6042A) needs a clearance from the centre bore of the wheel out between 110mm & 192mm of 29mm + 3mm clearance (To clear the caliper).

If the 355 x 32 kit only needed 10mm spacers then I may get just get away without fitting spacers on the 328 x 28 kit based on the above.

I am in Hong Kong now and only arrive back in the UK on the 28th which is the same day the car is booked in getting the works done. It will be in the garage for a couple of days as a have few goodies getting fitted, so maybe I will chance it and if the wheels don’t clear I can pop out and get some spacers.

My place in the UK is just outside Cambridge and the cars booked in at Vagtech in Milton Keynes so if I need spacers and they don’t have any maybe the TT shop in Bedford or somewhere nearby will have some.

If that's where your travelling for work I'd highly recommend you give vRSalex (Alex Kerr of Aks tuning in Bedford) a PM or ring  :wink:

The people on here who have had quotes & work done will agree you are pretty certain to be happy  :smiley:

Alex looks after my car and fitted my current Porsche kit and flushed by fluid working Meticulously & at a cracking price  :smiley:
