Remove exhaust cutout on R32 rear bumper
« on: November 11, 2012, 11:17:17 am »
I need a tip regarding the title. I have unclipped the lower clips but just cannot do the top ones :ashamed:

Is it just a case of pulling hard? Don't want to great it.

Want to swap over today so any quick tip will be greatly appreciated.

Easier to take the complete assembly off the car, if you have got a problem getting it off thing of how you are going to refit it.
Fitting guide here.  :happy2:

I am having an issue removing just the exhaust cutout. The bumper is off the car. The top row of clips are tough to remove.

I had grief with mine, the exhaust heat shield is blocking a few of the clips so that needs to come off. I worked from one end used a screw driver to lever the clips out. PITA job but it does come out eventually

Ah thought that might be the issue as have managed to get the edge clips out but the centre is stuck :fighting:

Thanks

On mine the clips for the heat shield had melted so broke the clips so mine hasn't got a heat shield on it but I haven't had any issues

Yes my heat shield clips have melted also. I took two of them off and managed to reach the other cutout clips without removing the heat shield fully.

Thanks mate :happy2:

Finished changing the bumpers over but have a slight issue now. While removing the licence plate light/parking sensor connector (the main connector on the rear drivers side) I snapped the clip. So when putting it back in I used duct tape to hold it together and it looked fine. But after finishing I turned the ignition on and it came up with the light out warning and the licence plate light/rear parking sensors don't work, just get a long beep then nothing.

I can feel, the connector is still connected as I can reach under the bumper but I assume its not tight enough.

So is it an easy fix or not?

P.S. Really like the bumper and new lights but this has put a downer on the change :sad1:
