Any motocross bike fans in here??
« on: June 24, 2012, 08:40:49 pm »
im after buying a crosser and cant decided what bike to get. im set on a four stroke 250 but can't decided upon what manufacture to go for!! iv been to fatcats twice now ( used to be armthorpe ages ago near doncaster )  with all my mates and brothers bike and there is 2 honda crf 250 2004 and 2008 one ktm250 2006 and a handful of two strokes. they all ride nice but not had ago on a kawasaki yamaha or Suzuki! don't want to rush into it with not knowing all about each one! i used to have the odd race when i was younger ( 15 ) on a cr250 and that was just savage but bikes have changed a fair bit since then. any personal experience would be great! got around 2200 to spend and looking about i should get a decent 2008 ish model from most of the makes.

not sure about 4 strokes but kawasaki seem to be the most popular 2stroke bikes around my area

Ive had a 1998 KX100 and a 2006 KXF250 and my brother had a 2003 KX85 and still has his 2009 KX144

I don't know why we've always had Kawasaki's, only reason I can think is they are the only motocross brand represented in Carlisle. My KXF250 was an amazing bike! Was originally Stephen Swords spare bike for Molsons, would fully recommend another

I used to go out with a few lads on CRF250's and they were a good bike too. Main thing is to buy a one that has been looked after, not a one that has spent the past couple of years dodging police on the local council estate!

Learnt to Ride on a KX80 Big Wheel (Im a tall lad), then a KX100, then moved to a KX125 and finally a KX250 and used to go to armthorpe (amongst many others) with my mates, very sandy track, it eats sprockets (or it used to), but I am too unfit for racing now along with no time for it  :signLOL:

Yammie 250 would be a good bet. Ktms are a quality bit of kit but need more maintenance and servicing.
Plus with the jap bikes there are thousands of parts available due to the massive Market in the US, ktm are more than often from ktm themselves, at a cost!

The 4 strokes seem a little tame at 250cc  :popcornsoda:

I have had a CR85 with race pipes and head, crazy little bike. Blew up a week after I sold it. Also had a Yamaha Banshee with Alien race pipes, that was a machine  :driver:

Had a go on a mates RM250 Slingshot and that thing just loved being on the back wheel.
