Being a nosey fecker I had a look though the past, actually had your build thread up to read on a tab for a while now haha. Lovely car mate! I wouldn't really be up the northern direction though if I am, I'll keep an eye out!

Hey Smyffalis

Cheers :drinking: for the comment, hope you enjoyed the read threw my build thread, that’s what its there for  :jumpmove:...
Yes I will keep an eye out for yourself, do you have the fat five spokes on  :happy2:  or how is your car looking at the moment?

 :popcornsoda:

Yo! Yes it is a lovely looking car mate! It is hard to find a nice looking reflex silver GTI about. I actually looked at buying one though it wasn't in the best of nick.

The mkv has gone now sadly, and not replaced with a GTI  :scared: Got a Scirocco instead  :happy2: Fantastic car. 2.0 TSI with DSG in her. Just created a thread on scirocco central, http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12249 . Remapped, now with Milltek Cat back and H&R springs  :driver: You mkv boys wouldnt be interested I'm sure haha.

Cheers,

Smyffalis

Changed over my top mounts & it has made a nice difference, noticed a small amount of play between the two when held side by side:-

Had a play with a new rear badge, wrapped the mechanism in sliver carbon fibre to match with the carbon bonnet & wing mirrors...
Then the badge primed & painted with a semi-gloss black paint with acrylic lacquer finish

Got some new stoppers, just need a bit of a refurb to keep them fresh

Cant wait  :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove:

Just to get some matching rear's ........
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Nice mate. Seems you just pipped me into joining the big brake brigade  :signLOL:

I've just picked up a full S3 setup. Collect it in a couple weeks.

Nice one Matto  :driver:  2 new members for the BIG BRAKE CLUB here  :jumpmove:

Will you be keeping them black?

I need to get mine sent for a refurb, before they go on...Getting eager!

I have a new clutch on its way, so get it on, then the brakes, try & pick up a set of rear calibers and a 2 piece disc...

If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Yeah keeping them black. Was either black or silver that I wanted anyway. Blue R32's or red Cuprs R's just wouldn't have gone haha. Will get the discs ground up at work just to make sure they are flat and to take any lip off they might have. Also paint the hub part black to keep them looking nice and rust free.

What are yours off? Mine probably won't go on now till next year. With winter only round the corner, puttin them on means I won't be able to fit my winter wheels.

Black would be a great choice of colour for your car Matt  :happy2:  They should cut your stopping distance down!

Yes with winter only round the corner, it will be spring time before mine go on, dont fancy letting the salt eat away at freshly refurbed  brakes  :booty:

They are of a TTRS, 4 pots with a 370mm disc, but i think DaveB has a 362mm 2 piece disc setup, so when the time comes & the disc's i have get worn down... It will be a good excuse to change  with new pads then, which are not too cheap.

Also give me time to source 2 piece rears

Cheers Pete, brakes would have to be one of the best mods any driver could have, we can never have to much stopping power  :happy2:

Yes the badge took a bit of triming on the back clips to get it to fit, as it wasnt a perfect match to the rear mechanism,
all sorted in the end

Now with a spare mechanism & badge... Time to have a play
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

Well another update  :happy2:

I got myself an RNS510, but needed a new up to date canbus. So got one delivered on Friday.

Made a start to change the canbus over, what a job, :fighting:  hands are cut to shreds & felt like giving up a few times, as i didnt seem to be getting anywhere. The canbus was up above the clutch pedal, in a real tight spot but with the car in bits and the help from the guys on this great forum...
Monte, Eddie-nl, mortygttdi, Jonny, Ianv5, BlackGTI, damoegan, bacillus all helped out big time...  THANKS GUYS!

The canbus also needed coding & this messed me about, but again Ed helped me there, pm'd untill we got it all cleared  :happy2:

As in the web page attached:- http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,57060.msg641152.html#msg641152

Canbus getting installed, lots of bits taken of the car

It was to late last night to install the RNS, so left it to do this morning, that was alot easier than the canbus....
Took about 1hr20mins, just took my time to make sure nothing got broken

I followed this guide:- http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?704-DIY-RNS510-Install

Everything works the very best, just need to code it in with vcds. Will do that tomorrow...

Such a nice finish with the new radio in... Photos dont do it any justice, as i took them in the dark, will upload some tomorrow...

As i got to be the 1st, being a demo   My new GTI Number arrived, it got fitted today:-

How do you get the build plaque for the gti, or even the number?
