Hi All. I'm Matt. Thinking of going to look at this gti at the weekend. http://www.philippaul.co.uk/used-cars/volkswagen-golf-2-0t-gti-3dr-oswestry-201220471476527
I have a had a quick look around it and I see the rear badge has faded / white colouring problem and also the one skirt looks like it's been caught maybe. Is there any other issues should I look out for? What recalls are there? Does the price seem a bit high? Does tornado red fade? Thanks

8.5 is high I'd say.

Hi matt. Welcome. I rang about that car aswell. Part service history put me off slightly. And yer 8.5 is bit steep if you compare on auto trader :). Good luck though!

welcome!!! Great choice fella  :happy2:?. the tornado red so far on the mk5 doesn't seem to have fading issues. maybe it's the type of paint that's now used on the newer cars etc..

Went to have a look today. Was quite disapointed with it. had bolster wear on the seats, rear badge was the white sort of laquar peel on it on the bottom of the badge, various scratches on it. Decided it wasn't the one for me in the end needed a fair bit of little bits to tidy it up and 8.5k is a bit steep. Went to look at a scooby which is a possiblity maybe. Still fancey a gti maybe, case of finding one that ticks all the boxes.

That is probably 'white worm'. You will find this on the earlier cars which have the flat 1 piece badges (changed to the new design in 2006 I think). Also affects the diamond cut 18" Monza II's and wheel centre caps.

This is the worst case I have seen:

Diamond Black 2007 (56) Golf GTI 3Dr DSG ¦ 18" Monza II's ¦ Cruise control ¦ MFSW ¦ Highline ¦ Rear parking sensors ¦ PDT Stage 1 ¦ Forge Twintake ¦ H&R Sport Springs ¦ NQSBBK ¦ R32 Rear bumper ¦ BCS Powervalve Sports R32 style TBE ¦ Valeo LED Rear Lights ¦ Xenon lights with HID kit ¦ DNX521DAB ¦ 12mm Spacers all round ¦

Welcome! Keep looking and eventually you will find the right one.  Took me nearly 3 months and several wasted trips where people had advertised them as immaculate (Should have gone to specsavers) but it will be worth it when you do find a gem!
