advice on traveling to work/ bike help

Guys I've just got a new job that's about 25/20 mins away from were I live....in miles I have no idea  
Basically I don't want to use my Eddie everyday as the miles will kill it and fuel will kill me , so im looking at a cheap way to get there on time without using public transport here's my thoughts

1- buy a motorbike and do cbt etc.....will this costs lots ? I don't have a bike license
2- buy a cheap car as a daily...

As for bike I have no license and don't know what insurance would be like to me being a new rider...would only be 125 agiva mitto or a 250 ....nothing big as I have my Eddie for that fun

Car would mean I could add it to my current  policy, have a license already, means I can use it daily with the Mrs etc,  but will adding another car to a policy that's already 1600 a year be silly?

Im after a cheap option really

Ive got a 2nd car at present that i used for work, just added to the admiral multi car policy me and the girlfriend have, extra £211 per year for a 206 1.4 quiksilver worth about £1k. Total car policy is £1,411. Both of us covered on 07 ED30 DSG, 07 Leon FR 2.0T BTCC & the 206. The fuel i save each month in the ED30 covers the running cost of the 206.

Cbt will cost around £100 and if you are ok on a bike will be done in a day, you will only be allowed to drive up to a 125cc that's restricted.

Not sure on insurance costs as they seem to have jumped up quite a bit this year, I was going to be £600 to insure a gsxr600 compared to £107 two years ago for a zx6r

I'm thinking about getting a cheap runabout for work, I take a very ghetto back road to get to work everyday and after the winter it's always full of potholes and don't want to be ruining suspension/bushes on my golf but that just depends on insurance costs for a second car

I'd go for a second car rather than a bike. If you get a bike you'll be tempted not to use it when the weather is bad, which is pretty often.

Besides you can can get some decent cars for about a grand. I had a none turbo diesel 306 which did eveything asked of it and was very cheap to run and insure.

second car all the way, I got a 2001 130TDI Bora and its ace, 55-60mpg and takes me 100miles a day and I've got quite attached to it, done 24K in 12 months and its never missed a beat. Treated it to some 17" santa monica's the other day

I think a car then, I'll be working for bmw so may get a cheap tradein, If not I'll look around the liked of  3/5 series bmw, even a pick up truck or a 4x4

Decided not to get another car, thought a bike will be best as I'll slip through the traffic...

Im going for a 2011 cagiva mitto...
Got a quote off 433.00 per year insurance from compare market so means I'll get if a fair deal cheaper than that 
I'll do cbt and stuff...anyone know any good ways to do a cbt and any good insurance places
