Dealers - estimating £90-£100 per bulb depending on which one I have - they said there are two types.

Want quality ones - but not silly prices

Standard GTi fare are H7 Halogens iirc. What you have are optional Bi-Xenon's.

4300k is the standard OEM Xenon Kelvin rating. These give out the most light output. The higher you go on numbers, the bluer the light becomes and the less light output you get from the bulb. 5000k is super white, 6000k is bluer and so on.

Best bet is to stick to 4300k, a slight yellow tinge to it, but the most light output and still a lot whiter than halogens.

thank you  :happy2: I thought the higher the number the brighter the light.......I want best light output and clean colour.

Standard is 4300k, I'm guessing (just a guess) most peope would be running the 5000 or 6000k ?

Do VW fit/use Philips bulbs as standard? why the f**K are dealers looking for £100 each? when you can get them off ebay for £30 a pair?
any way to tell if they are cheap fakes? or 100% genuine?

I know the feeling!  It was right when I needed my car.  My boy was born premature & unwell  in germany in winter, getting dark early and I couldnt stay at the hospital so commuted 20miles each way.  Luckily borrowed a friends car  :notworthy:
