Not a cheap product but I think it's the best quality catch can system available and particularly beneficial for a car you plan to keep.

May be worth noting that vRSAlex removed his inlet after running with a catch can (valves were cleaned prior to fitting can) and the valves still had a considerable built up of carbon anyway??

See here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,19941.msg549728.html#msg549728

Also, as turbo cars get a lot of oil through the inlet pipes anyway through the turbo (people often see it when removing the intercooler) then you will always get some oil getting in the intake manifold and onto the valves so IMHO I don't know if these are worthwhile  :scared:

Also James had some problems with his car chucking out White smoke. R-tech diagnosed it as being the catch can not being able to handle the extra boost pressure, car was fine once OEM PCV was re-installed

....Which catch can systems were involved in Alex's and James's cases?

I thought that James was running a Forge.

However, it is probably worth pointing out that both James' car would certainly seen to be at the 'upper' end of 2.0TFSI tuning, and that his map is pretty unique given the high boost / WMI combo.

I'm sure that the Forge will be more than sufficient for those of us that would be happy to stick to the usual 'staged' tuning routes  :happy2:

Good point there Gareth, most people won't be heading up to 350+ bhp so shouldn't have the White smoke issue  :happy2:

Alex's is a forge also: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,19941.msg322847.html#msg322847

....Is Alex's Skoda also highly tuned? - Sorry but I'm not about to read 24 pages of his build thread.

High boost plus WMI is certainly pushing the envelope.

No problems from my Forge when engine inspected recently by JKM.

Alex is stage 2+ with hybrid ko4 and all the bolt ons you'd expect, Robin  :happy2:

Just a tad Robin

As I said above, I reckon that the Forge is fine for 'normal' peeps going with the tried and tested routes. But everything has a limit, so when bigger turbos, WMI, custom maps, etc are involved, it may just be too much....

Slightly off topic, but i'm liking the blue stickers on your car. I've got black ones, but after seeing yours, I'm thinking that I should have opted for the blue  :sad1:

....Cheers  :drinking:

So we might deduce that a catch can system might be pointless on cars tuned/modded at the higher extremes. [just seen your post Gareth]

I've emptied enough gunk out of my Forge to think it's good news for my K03 Revo Stage 2 car.

I don't think Alex actually had any problems with his catch can (unlike James with White smoke), he just didn't find it effective. Could have been down to his hybrid turbo allowing a little oil into the intake system (only a guess though).

All worthwhile points to note for people to make an informed decision on whether this is a worthwhile puchase for them  :happy2:
