Audi have decided to make an S1 quattro, so i find it hard to believe a Polo R won't follow suit

Pretty sure this was on the Audi stand at Goodwood, I had a good look around it but at €54k its a bit steep

according to the Audi website that was the A1 quattro limited edition. that was a LHD only that they made 333 of. they never intended to make more, but it was so well received they've decided to put an S1 into production. 

Yes thats right, there was a number on the steering wheel which said 1 of 333

I've read that the Polo R will be a similar spec to the S1 above, but will only be FWD. Seems odd to me that VW are preparing to release a Polo that'll be faster than the Golf GTI?

sensors, for development purposes. a lot of spy cars have them when being tested
