Steam, then no air con
« on: July 11, 2012, 06:40:17 pm »
Turned the aircon on today, I got steam coming from under the bonnet, I then turned it off, checked under the bonnet and there's coolant at the front drivers side which has leaked from somewhere. I'm guessing the steam was from when the coolant leaked onto the exhaust.

Anyone with any advice before I phone the dealer in the morning?
It was only regassed a few months ago.
I'm driving to Switzerland/Italy this Sunday, hope it can be sorted quickly!  :fighting:

Mine went the same way on my Eddy a couple of years back.

Called the recovery truck as I thought the whole car was knackered, then felt a bit stupid when the guy said there's no issue driving it, just you'll have no aircon.

Cannot remember the exact part that went, but it was fixed quite easily by the dealer and once regassed all fine.
It was under warranty at the time, so not a clue on cost of the fix, but seem to recall it was a quick fix.

Enjoy your driving trip.

Thanks, thats put me at ease a bit. I feared the dreaded aircon compressor fault again, already had one replaced under warranty. I felt rather stupid being in rush hour traffic with steam coming from my bonnet, the smell wasn't to nice either  :ashamed:
