There are hundreds of the bloody things good job I know what I want lol.

Is it me or does that Forge one look a little Friday afternoon ish?  It probably does the trick but I like things massivly over engineered.

It's going to be a few months before I get one anyway so will wait and see what this ITG one comes up like, but again not to keen on those foam filters.

On a side note I always thought the foam filters where a big no no when it came to road cars. They make more power but let in a lot more shizzer. I suppose this is just scare mongering, but with turbos I presume the filtration has to be as good as it can be?

Yes, the filter is perhaps the most important component in an Air Intake system.

I'd have to conduct quite scientific tests to tell you what any improvements are, and you know what the placebo effects are!

My Carbonio intake came with a PiperCross panel filter and someone I know with a Mk5 GTI, who is a highly qualified engineer and whose opinion I respect, told me ITG were the best. The ITG filter is certainly of very robust multilayered construction and fits the 'box' very tightly, so sealing is good - Better quality than the PiperCross which in turn is much better than the standard 'paper' panel. Extremely low maintenance was also a factor in my decision - No additional oiling is ever needed and just an occasional dust off. Also a lifetime warranty.

Don't forget that the VW standard filter gets thrown away and replaced every ?,000 miles when servicing - What does that tell you?

The ITG Pro-filter utilizes the same three layer reticulated polyester foam used on the MAXOGEN air filters. Unlike some of the competition, ITG filters have a massive dust load-up tolerance, which is the ability to absorb a large amount of dust without reducing air flow capacity. With the standard K03 turbo I wouldn't like to say that any performance gains are appreciable without proper scientific testing. However, the manufacturers claim about +2 bhp is possible.

It's also MAF-friendly! And probably more benefit to a remapped car.

If you plan on keeping your car, as I do, then it'll quickly pay for itself by not needing to replace it - 60 squid well spent imo.

I like the theory of the intake being at low level away from the heat of the engine bay and hence scooping colder air (as the Forge solution). However, as the colder air anyway has to pass through piping (metal which heats up!) I don't understand how the air which gets finally delivered can be colder.

Also, I didn't notice a hydro-lock on the Forge system.

If you buy the ITG - make sure that you wipe the oil off it before you install it!

My one was really oily - which isn't good for the MAF!

I really like my Evoms, makes a great noise -

I'm patiently waiting for the courier bringing me one of these, ordered it from Regal as they supply the additional part required to adapt it to the ED30.  Was either going to be this or the Dbilas, but having read up a bit on in and funnily enough also on Regals advice opted for the Evoms.

If anyone wants one of these the ED30 specific CAI is arriving in March, I just couldnt wait and ordered now.

Had a last minute change of heart on the exhaust and went Milltek instead of APR, mainly as I got a good deal on the Milltek locally.

Can't wait to have the CAI and Exhaust fitted, slight delay on fitting the CAI as the heat shields were not in stock, but at least as the exhaust and CAI are being fitted at different times i'll be able to experience the difference (if any) that they make.

I intend to go stage 2 shortly after then I'm going to concentrate on brakes and handling before going stage 2+ in the summer.

This is fun!!!!!!!
