Fair fx travel money
« on: July 07, 2012, 07:01:19 pm »
I tried to order some euros from fair fx at the beginning of this week and planned to send the money by bank transfer.

It said on there site that if I do not go through with the transfer then they will take legal action against me.

When I tried to send them the money the reference they gave me is not valid according to my bank.

I have emailed them twice and tried to phone them but have had no luck in receiving a reply.

What legal action can they take?

And to be honest I'm not happy sending an online company that won't answer emails £1000 as a bank transfer, can I use the lack of reply as a get out?

Hope it all works out for you. No idea on any action they can take, but wouldn't distance selling regulations come into play?

If this helps, in future try Travel FX. I have used them numerous times in the past and have had no issues at all. Money always arrives next day recorded and they seem to do some of the best rates around.

Fair fx had the best rate when I looked.

The bank transfer never failed as it wouldn't even let me go through with the transfer due to the reference being wrong.

On my last email to them I said that if I didn't receive a reply by the end of the day on Friday then I would have to go elsewhere for my euros, but I haven't even had a reply from the first email I sent them,

I would assume that someone running an online company should be able to check emails on a daily basis, as they would have to be online to see what orders they have and to process the orders.

Just tried travel fx they offer a better rate than what the comparison sites say.

They also have a - in there reference number so I'm not able to send the money

apart from the risk of losing all that cash? having it stolen?  :scared:

A fairFx card will be replaced with all funds intact! Cheapest way to spend abroad, also almost the cheapest way to withdraw cash too.

Better than risking 1000 quid with a company that dont answer emails....  :popcornsoda:

For the past couple of years we have used either M&S or Debenhams as the rates tend to be better but it is worth checking first.
