The plans sound good! Will aim to be there before 11 so to catch yours on the rollers! Got a friend coming with me who is coming from Swindon, so I will make sure that he gets to my house in plenty of time for us to get to JKM by 11!  :happy2:

^^^^

Thanks, Joe. I'll be posting a pic of the actual crack soon. [Er....I'm referring to the crack in the manifold and nothing camel related!]

^ The crack can be seen as indicated by the arrow. This would be causing a minor leakage around the circular flap when closed.

Just to add another possible cause of a small boost leak is a faulty oil filler cap. Not very often but they have been known to leak especially after a PCV failure.

I swapped mine as it was only approx £8 for a new one to rule out all possibilities and I now look to be getting a small increase on my boost gauge + vagcom logs, only minor but its there.

Something else to add to the list

A comment made from a turbo specialist I spoke to - he said he would be suprised a crack that small (and sealed on top) would cause much of a leak.

Robin,

were the turbine blades inside the turbo checked?  just wondering if there could have been some wear on these too which wont have helped.

....Well, it wasn't "much of a leak" but it was a leak nonetheless.

....Yes they were checked AFAIK and found to be okay.

Quite a few folk are reporting having boost leak problems at the moment and asking about it, and also PM-ing me. So I thought that bumping this up might help as most don't seem to know where/how to do a forum Search.
