Be carefull gaz, an insurance company will use that to screw you over no doubt about it, there deffo the wrong load rating for your car..... i think. I will for sure only ever use 92y xl after some of the stories ive herd.  :scared:

Wouldnt use any track tyres either like r888's and a048's.

Michelin need to sort their head out and release the super sport at least then ill have a tyre which is capable on road and track and keep the insurance companies happy.

just checked maybe the load rating is different for 19" tyres as they dont do 92y xl

so 88y is a no go for the gti.

bit annoying they dont do 225/35/19  in 92y

I dont know 100% but if you look at tyre load ratings 88 is 560kg and 92 is 630kg so thats 280kg under the manufactures spec with 4 tyres and you know what insurance companies are like :scared:

They do 93y xl id go for them to be sure or ring your insurance company and get it in writing what they prefer you to use when using 19" wheels.

OK. Well just rang Brentacre insurance and they said its fine to run whatever tyre I want. They would just make a note of it on the policy and class it as a 'modification'

So 88y is fine for the insurance.

but with a softer tyrewall is 88y as good at handling as 91y?

Are you sure the insurance company understood the question ?   I'd get it in writing from them
