RNS510 update woes
« on: July 05, 2012, 10:22:27 pm »
Hi All,

My early version c has looked fine for the last 2 years bar slow start up and thinking its in eastern europe on occasions.

Decided time to sort therefore followed Carl's excellent guide  8)

Tried 381X, all started well got toward the end, update fail message then left with the following:

 :sad1:

Tried to 2760 next but initial reads the disc but reverts to an SWL error.

Not an expert when it comes to downloading/extracting/burning and dont want to keep playing around. Any suggestions on next step, presumably another firmware. Happy to pay for postage and a pint for someone to send me a known working firmware to get me going  :happy2:

With the 2760 disc in press setup eject and I (top right button) together for about 10 secs and it should hopefully reboot and startup loading the 2760.

Did you ensure the keys weren't in the ignition?

Yep, no keys, anywhere near the ignition. Followed your excellent instructions.

Get a error message soon after re-booting. Despite several attempts not 100% the file is ok.

The file is ok as i have used it many times.

Try the Setup, eject & i buttons and let me know how it goes.

Tried the restart, no different.

Started form scratch downloaded some fresh firmare (2760). Thought I was getting somewhere as started to boot, It located the SWL image then hit me with this...

Are you burning on DVD or cd?

And are you burning on slowest speed?

The response are keeping me interested, major p***d off  :sad1:

2660 methinks before update.

Have tried a different cd and dvds, yep slow mo speed via nero and windows

Found this thread that mentions the same error. The guy suggests adjusting the coding after support from Joshi who seems to know his stuff. Going to give this a try
