Std 200bhp GTi figures
« on: July 07, 2012, 11:05:50 am »
Hi , Firstly I hope this is in the right section please move if I have posted it in the wrong one

I was in the hair dressers this morning and listening to a lad go on about his 266 bhp map he had put on his 55 plate GTi , He claims the car is std stock car and has gained nearly 70 bhp  , is this likely or the guy who sold him the map being a little bit bold with his figures, I realise 266bhp is easy enough but just by a map ? and nothing else  this must be near the top from a stock . Any advice guys

266bhp with just a map on a 55 plate GTI is possible if you go on a very very generous dyno. Reasonably I'd think 245-255bhp.

Have a look at the JKM website. They have the results of various cars at various specs and you can see how much bhp they produce.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Superchips reckon I will get 260bhp from my car at stage 2
And that's with a full exhaust and induction kit.

I have heard there dyno is very optimistic and will be getting mine on the rollers at Wallace performance soon as there rollers are quite accurate

as said above dynos are lottery and not comparable. Generally speaking JKM dyno which is widely recognized to be more realistic then optimistic claim aroun 230ish with a map

A stage 1 TFSi map will be roughly about 240bhp with no other mods.

....I don't agree. I think you need at least a high-flow TBE to make ~240 bhp on Stage 1 on a K03 2.0T FSI.

Even on JKM's dyno 235-240 is possible  :happy2:

Mine has R-Tech Stg1 map with K&N panel & pre-cat removed and I got 241.3 IIRC at the last day. . .

My Shark stage 1 made 236bhp on Rtechs rollers with a small boost leak (hence why it was on there to find it) so 240bhp is possible with standard hardware and just a map.

It seems I may be wrong about some performance hardware needing to be added for any significant Stage 1 gains.  :ashamed:
