Well the plan to change the car lasted long. After having a good look at the cost and the potential of the GTI I have decided to mod it.

Bilstein B14's ordered

....It's all the fault of this forum of course

The GTI is a very tough act to follow as it truly is such a great allrounder. However, I could totally understand you changing it from a purely business point of view.  :happy2:

I love the look of the rear on this car, ive been toying with this idea for an R32 rear and found the lower bumper and trim for the GTI for about £130 hmmm

When I weighed everything up, the cars I wanted are around £15k. The GTI would fetch around £7k in its current state. So that is £8k BEFORE I start modding the new car. I have the money but I also want a dyno in 3 years which is £50k on a good day, I also want to expand into wheels and tyres properly over the next year or so. What is a better investment, a 335i coupe or a proper tyre fitting machine and balancer? No contest really  :sad1:

So... this will now turn into a proper build thread. Plans are in the early stages but I think the car has potential. Mods to the front end to improve traction are a must though before any major power mods  :signLOL: That was the major sticking point really as I miss the 4WD capability of my S3 but I think we can make it work if we set it up properly.

I really like it as well mate. Credit to the previous owner for that! I fancy the idea of an R32 rear though before long.

Im glad to hear! Looks like this car has massive potential considering your business backgroud. Watching this space!  The R32 rear with GTI exhaust exit does look very nice! Full r32 miltek kit would sound the business though

That is the plan eventually, de cat downpipe first though then later I will get an R32 lower panel and sell the centre bit then get the R32 style cat back.

The Bilstein B14's have arrived, should be fitting soon hopefully!

Quality looks great as expected.

I have also just agreed a deal with Cobra to use our GTI to develop a new turbo back exhaust system. We sell quite a lot of Cobra systems for the Vauxhall Astra & Corsa VXR's and quality is always great. Will be good to see a more affordable alternative come to the market  :happy2:

Cheers mate.

We have them for £815 delivered. But we have 5% off all coilovers at the moment so they are £774.25 delivered.

They are our best selling coilover for the Mk5 GTI  :happy2:

Hi Graeme,

I'm wanting to upgrade to some decent coilovers (in the new year) but I want em to go a little lower than the H&R springs I have already.

It says on your website that these b14's lower 20-50mm.
I'd like to see some photos of em dropped 50mm if possible.
Do you know anyone on the forum with the B14's? That might have some pics?

Or

Would you recommend some other coilovers that go a bit lower, but still perform?

Cheers

Carlo

When we fit them we will drop them the full 50mm mate I think. I will do anyway even if I raise it up a bit so people can see how low they can go.

There are a lot of good kits out there, the AP/Weitec/KW range are all good as are the Bilsteins.

I'd start a thread and ask for pics though in the general section.

I agree. Bilsteins are great on the MKV. More pics are a pre-requisite once fitted Graeme. :happy2:

Will do mate. Hoping to have everything bar the K04 or LOBA (Still haven't decided) in place by spring so hopefully quite an active progress thread now.
