If the edition30 engine is identical to the GTi

It's not. That's the gist of the post above.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

ED30/S3 had different pistons, rods, cylinderhead and stuff than the regular GTI

Not getting this;

If the edition30 engine is identical to the GTi apart from the turbo, surley the GTi has the same tunability once you install the bigger turbo ?

Right ???

and miltek do a 3" and 2.5" DP but what is the dia of the oem unit ?

Not quite, very close though..

As the ED30 runs lower compression about 0.5 points.. You can run more timing with the ED30. That transfers to about 15hp more up top..

Excellent, now we're getting somewhere;

So the ED30 has different;

Engine:
Pistons
Rods
Compression ratio
Cylinder head
Turbo (Ko4 Turbo )

Body:
All the lower skirts / bumpers are colour coded
Side skirts - Colour coded (shape different ?)
Front Bumper ? (what's the difference here (extra lip) ?)
Front splitter - bigger
Rear Bumper - Colour coded (is shape different?)
Rear lights - darkened (Otherwise identical lighting arrangement?)
Side stripes ? Is there any difference ?

Wheels;
18" Pescaras are standard

Interior;
Seats - Part leather heated seats (red stitching?)
Gear knob - Differences ?
Limited edition with unique build number on plaque
Mats - red stitching
Wheel - red stitching

Please confirm ??'s and add and confirmed differences.

Don't take this the wrong way, but is there a purpose to this ?

I can understand why you'd want a good idea of the main mechanical differences if you intend to tune, but whether the mats have got red stiching or not :confused:

A few weeks ago I was looking at the differences - but because I want to tune, So I sold my Gti and bought an ED30. Didn't cost the earth to upgrade and now I have a more insurance friendly route to big power. A new exhuast and a remap sounds better than ''I've changed loads of stuff on my car, including fitting  a bigger turbo, to mimik an Ed30''. My insurance Co charged me no extra to trade up to the ED30 either (well £1.05 admin charge :grin:)

Octavia Vrs MKII - KO4, forge twintercooler, S3 Injectors, APR HPFP, RS4 FP Valve, Pipeworx 3'' DP and Sports cat, Piper non res exhuast, ITG Maxogen, Quaife Dif, sachs clutch kit, NQSBBBK with RS4-2 pads, H&R SS Coilovers with adjustable koni inserts.
Good for 328 BHP on JKM's rollers !!

Thanks, I can see where your coming from, but if you don't have anything constructive to say why bother hi-jacking someone's thread.
Don't want to change my GTi... happy with her the way she is, just want to know the exact differences between the two models..

FFS Hi-jacking your thread, have a word with yourself....... here's something constructive, come to superchips and you can compare my ED30 to your GTI for as long as you like   :rolleye:

In answer to your question:

Engine: (I don't know about the engine there is debate on this, but consensus says that the following is different to the GTI)
Pistons
Rods
Compression ratio
Cylinder head
Turbo (K04 Turbo )
DV relocated

Body:
All the lower skirts / bumpers are colour coded
Side skirts - Colour coded (shape same)
Front Bumper ? same.
Front splitter - lower valance is slightly different
Rear Bumper - Fully Colour coded with different rear valance to GTI
Rear lights - darkened (same as R32) otherwise identical to GTI
Side stripes ? same as GTI

Wheels;
18" Pescaras are standard (for UK market)
18" Monza II in black with polished rim (for Mainland Europe Market)

Interior;
Seats - Part leather heated seats with red stitching and interlagos (tartan style trim) + electric lumbar support.
Gear knob - red stitching (and has golf ball motif)
Limited edition with unique build number on plaque (if requested from VW)
Mats - red stitching
Wheel - red stitching

why bother hi-jacking someone's thread.

That ain't no hi-jack.

This is a hi-jack!

Speaking of hijacks, did anyone else hear about that missing plane?
An Air France plane was supposed to be returning to France. Went missing.

Some people think it's a hijack.

As for the Air France plane. Jeeze I hope not.   It all sounds a bit dodgy though.  :sad1:
