Passenger door lock woes
« on: July 13, 2012, 07:47:45 pm »
Haven't put a search in yet (apologies) but just been quoted £376 to repair by the stealers  :scared:

Passenger door won't open normally, have to open from the inside, assuming new lock module + labour.  Nearly fell off my chair in the servicing department when they quoted me.  Is this the going rate or are they living up to their name ?

Not a quick fix, i think you have to remove the outer door skin to get to the parts so labour cost i suppose?.
ED35. Standard factory condition.

The lock modules are around £100 to buy new but it really isn't a bad job to do yourself. All I will say is get it done sooner rather than later because if it deadlocks from the inside and out meaning you can't open the door it can turn into a nightmare of a job. I replaced my passenger door lock up from the dealer but got a passenger rear off eBay for £30.

Have a look at my reply in this post. Will give you move info on what's involved in replacing it.
