floor mats
« on: July 12, 2012, 06:47:30 pm »
What are the best carpets to get for my Ed30. Just black will be fine, I know its a gti I have, so dont really need it on the mats.

I bought some 'luxury' mats of a trader on ebay but kept catching my heel on the 'extra' bit when changing gear which was a bit annoying.

Just nice quality mats will do fine at a nice price.....

Buy genuine VW mats - plain or GTI or even the special ED30 ones if you can find them.

Reason being is that the VW mats fit over the tabs in the front footwells. Just so you don't get crumpled mat under your brake or clutch pedal and die horrifically :scared:.

Second that - the VW ones are the quality you expect and the price is reasonable compared to the jazzed up ebay 'quality' ones. I have the rubber ones for the winter and carpet ones for what used to be known as summer!
'05 GTI - laser blue, 5dr, DSG, blue glass, heated leather, highline, cruise, sat nav, 10 speaker stereo,MFSW, xenons, 18" Monza, puddle lights, Ipod, retractable mirrors, factory tints, winter/summer mats, bootmat, luggage net, mudflaps, tailored blinds, x-tec plate leds - always looking for more OEM options.......pretending the pikey paddles are OEM+!!

VW's website quote £65 for GTi mats and £50 for R mats. How does that work, they must sell more GTi mats than R's surely.

I have the 'basic' set of mats from VW for £38. They fit on the studs and are fine with no 'raised' bit.

I'm sure there must be at least one dealership out there that would charge a fitting fee for mats!  :jumpmove:

picked up of the GTI ones last week as look a bit more special, did make me smile when a forum member was claiming they were £100 when trying to shift his used ones

I got these too. They're actually gorgeous with the red logo. Good quality too.
