Dip your car............?
« on: July 14, 2012, 02:19:03 pm »
I think it looks quite good but I could be about to be lambasted...................... :ashamed:

I think the M3 looks better as the black looks streaky on the bonnet.

Its basically a spray wrap for $300 that you can do yourself again and again as the sprayer is included.

Sorry if repost I did search :ashamed:

what the hell!! how much overspray are you gonna get with that. And all the dust flying around when they are spraying!? Cant see how that would be a decent finish?

There is no overspray as it just peels off its like a wrap.

You need to watch the whole video.

Its Matt like a Matt wrap so finish isnt an issue, I think.

i watched both videos. On the mk5 he didnt have anything covering the wheels or grills so how much overspray is gonna get on the inside of the wheels / brakes / inner grill / radiator etc.

You can also see several dust nibs on the white m3 which look crap.

I cant see it being very durable either if it just peels off the easy?

I think after a year it goes a little brittle which makes it more difficult to peel.

I was thinking of trying mirrors to see what its like.

I don't have all the answers but thought it an interesting development.

Its not paint it just peels off.

You can mask more its just showing you how easy it is to peel.

seen it before on an Audi

apparently if you don't have the right tools or experience it won't go anywhere near that flawlessly

I think for small / complicated things it is certainly a good alternative to a wrap. and for a whole car with the correct preparation and in the right environment it could work as well.

I'm just saying their prep and spray area look far from ideal.

Are you thinking of getting the kit then?

Wonder how long it takes to dry... and dont judge me... but it could come in handy on a mates stage do  :signLOL:

Oh yes that would be funny.

I believe half an hour.

I emailed them to ask for a uk supplier but in the faq they said no.

I know someone in Sheffield who does this, he's a proper sprayer though and was looking for cars to demo on, you buy the wrap paint and he sprays for free. Not sure if anyone turned up or if he's still offering that but he was last week,
