Suggested Alternatives to RNS510 ?
« on: July 13, 2012, 11:56:50 pm »
Hey folks ,

Getting ever so annoyed with my current RCD300 , looking to change it ASAP !
What im looking for is a stylish unit , that is touch screen , supports CD's / MP3's and has a connection for my trust Iphone 4S

I spend a lot of time driving , often just locally so need something reliable and stylish while still offering excellent sound quality. Navigation isnt essential but would be a nice bonus.

Got an initial budget of around the £300 mark but may put this up depending on what I find.

Any suggestions , Reviews ? either OEM or otherwise

Ta muchly :)

There are loads of alternatives, OEM and aftermarket.

I'm delighted with my Zenec NC2010 and you can get a second hand one for a tad over your budget now and again on eBay.

With a cheap cable it plays/charges the iphone, controllable through MFSW and displays info on highline clocks.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I have a Pioneer AVH-2400BT from Halfords for £280. IMHO the cheapest option for a new stereo in terms of what you are looking at. There are a couple of things you need to know with this option:

1. You need to run a lead to a swithced live.
2. You need a decent twin fakra radio adaptor and I have a good one and FM is fine but AM is poor.

an alternative to this is the Zenec unit - similar sort of price, arguably better functionality as the sat nav gives arrows on the FIS etc.
