Whats this noise...please....someone help!!!

Had my edition 30 for a month now with 60k miles on the clock (2007) bought from a VW Main dealer. They changed the cambelt just as I bought it but did not change the water pump if this perhaps has anything to do with the issue potentially.

So the noise in the video here:

&feature=plcp has been on and off for the past 2 weeks there is no particular pattern to when it occurs:

* it happens at any moving speeds and in any gear and when the vehicle is in idle.
* whether the vehicle is in drive, in gear, out of gear, whether or not the clutch is depressed.
* On the motorway 'cruising' or round town.
* the noise 'appears' to come from under the bonnet (front left sort of area so it sounds!). it is not tyre squeal as the VW tech asked me!

I had the car in for it's MOT the other day and they could not find it. To me it sounds like a loose belt or rollers if that makes sense.

Any help appreciated!

Oh and it generally occurs once the car is warmed up, so not from a cold start.

You done the wd40 test, just spray everywhere

have you had your auxiliary drive belt checked/changed?

and/or consider alternator pulley/tensioner

also, are all the fluids etc topped up? (power steering fluid...)

(and do what JHtrophy suggested.lol. spray the WD40 on the auxiliary belt and see if that calms it down - if it does - thats your culprit! water also works although wont last as long as WD40)

Had the same thing with mine  it was the pcv valve mine also sounded like a dry wheel.

turns out it was the Rocker cover, replaced under warranty. They also changed the cam belt, water pump and rollers at this time free of charge but this was not related to the problem but its what they originally thought it was.
