Definitely a Finch. I reckon a Linnet too, though possibly a Redpoll?

Really weird how they 'dive-bomb' about! Quick flap of the wings and then close them until they start to fall out of the sky! They were some way off and the photos were taken at 400mm zoom and cropped so I'm surprised you can even see them!

....I can enlarge my view of any image on my Mac (27") via the TrackPad, just by a two-finger spread gesture. So I had a closer look at your pics. :happy2:
All the Finch and Sparrow family have that 'drop' flight pattern. Wood Pigeons do it too but in more regular shorter swoops.
