RNS 510 B few questions
« on: July 22, 2012, 10:46:25 am »
Hey guys,
Bought RNS 510 B version couple days ago, very pleased with unit.
Just few questions:

1. Sometimes I can hear cooling fans kicking in after I remove key from ignition, last about 10 min and after unit completely off. Is it normal?
2. I believe after cooling fans are off, I also can hear noise in speakers (it is sounds like someone turned amp off). Is it normal?
3.Unit runs 4020 firmware and V8 maps, what is latest firmware for B version?
4. Also want to add factory bluetooth, which one to go for? I have highline MFD and MFSW
Thanks

1. Yes
2. Don't think so.
3. Version B officially stopped being supported after 2680 I think. There are people who have modified later firmware in order to work with A/B/C units. Revision is now H I believe.
4. Bluetooth depends on what you want:
Quote

1. 5N0 035 730 A,B or C
Works with Highline, RNS / RCD 510 and MFSW (you must have a fully functioning Menu button) Phone button works too
The only downside is Phone compatibility, does'nt work with Iphone (although Darren did get it to work with an Iphone 3 using jailbreak)

2. 1Z0 035 729 and B
Works with Highline, RNS / RCD 510 and MFSW (Phone button doesn't work)
Works with all phones
Expensive compared to other kits

3. 7P6 035 730 versions and 5K0 035 730 versions
Works with RNS / RCD 510 and MFSW (Phone button works) No highline control. Although if you buy a Polar FIS Advanced you will have Highline Control
Works with all phones

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Thanks

Another question, should fans start as soon I unlock/lock open/close doors?
As soon I unlock doors fans kick in for 10 min or if I lock door fans kick in for 10 min, is it normal?

Yes - otherwise if you start the unit from "cold" it takes ages to boot up.
