Steel grey Ed30
« on: July 22, 2012, 01:30:10 pm »
Right then, the old man bought an Ed30 back in 2007 that I originally spec'd as I was intending on buying it off him at a later stage when I sold my R32.
After the R32 I bought an S3 instead, so I didn't need the Ed30 but the old man kept it as he actually liked it and used it as a station car (bit of a waste I know) but he had private parking at the station and it was always garaged at night so in all, it's always been kept well and it's still mint.
He was looking to sell it a few weeks back, but due to the fact had every box ticked when ordered and it only has 11K on the clock I've decided to take it off his hands and keep it as a show car.  Something I always wanted to do with a MK2 gti but it never happened.....
So, I have a load of trick bits on the S3 and I know what sort of tuning there is out there for the K04's but I want to make it look a bit better.
I intend on dropping it, I'm not sure if I'll go air, but it'll be a substantial drop......  Other than that I'm not really sure what else there is to do.
I've always been keen on keeping my cars OEM looking but slightly more aggressive.  I've seen some front ends that look quite smart, very similar to OEM but different in some way.
Can people show me what they have done to theirs or links that I could have a look at?  A Google search hasn't given my any good ideas.

Although this was taken 12+ months ago it's the only recent shot that I have of it when it was being detailed.

Thanks for your help!

OK, having looked around a bit more on here I've seen some gti's with number plate deletes and some carbon wrap?

Is there a magnetic kit you can buy?

Thnaks for that!
I presume I'll need to buy a new central bumper insert as there will be some holes drilled or similar through the existing number plate mount.

What about H&R Monotube Ultralow's?  Anyone running those?

I'll probably stick my 19" BBS CK's on.  Is there anything I can remove to reduce arch rubbing? or is it a case of getting the arches rolled?

I guess this one is on air.....  Looks nice though.

Looks like a lovely car, IMO it would be a shame to drop such a low mileage minter of a car on air suspension. Rather than that, why not keep it looking oem with some performance mods and top quality susp parts. Ur car of course but just my opinion

I know where your coming from.....  I've never been in a car on air and I've never been keen but it does sound like an option.  I'm interested in the H&R ultralows and they would be my 1st choice if I can find some honest reviews.
I know it sounds like a waste but the car will only be used a handful of times a year as it'll be stored at another property a long way away and used while I'm there.  Once it's up to spec i'll take it to the odd show in the UK and Europe.
Engine wise I'll take it up to stage 2+ with a dsg map and a few other boltons.  I'll save big tuning for AWD.

I've always liked that look despite the impracticalities.....  I've slammed ever car I've owned, even dropped the S3 35mm+ 2 weeks after I bought it new and I've never had any problems.  I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but when it eventually gets sold the original suspension would go back on.

Awesome car, Amazing colour (I love the steel grey) :notworthy: and tbh your plans for wheels and suspension are probably the best combo you can do (IMHO)

19" CK's
Ultralows

 :congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

A few things to make sure u don't rub.....

19x8J ET45 BBS.
225/35/R19 tyres.
Screw delete mod.

Once again.... The BBS and Ultralows will look awesome.

I've happily been running H&R springs for years now, but to get lower I've always had an itch for the Ultralows

With the low miles & mint condition why not leave it as it it & use it for shows?. Look how many people now want standard mk1 & mk2 GTI's. So enjoy it as it is. :happy2:

I hear you, I don't plan on doing anything radical that can't be returned to standard.
Let's face it, it's not a mint mk1 or mk2, then I'd tend to agree.
This has landed on my lap at an extremely good price so I'm planning on making the most of it.
I don't plan on spending a fortune on it, just a few trick bits and making it look slightly more aggressive.

I remember this car. Jim did that correction? I remember asking you way back then if you wanted to sell it at the time.
