Please tell me this is a coil pack problem...
« on: July 24, 2012, 07:18:22 pm »
2.0 FSI Turbo - just changed the fuel pump cam follower and swapped out the PCV from a (suspected knackered) Rev C to a Rev N. I also replaced the breather hose from the PCV to the intake manifold after I snapped the clip when removing.

Car is now misfiring and VCDS shows the following. Am I right in thinking the coil pack on cylinder 1 is dead? There is a slight smell of fuel which I assume is because the fuel being injected into cylinder 1 is not being burned. Could it be another problem? Engine light came on initially but nothing since clearing the codes.

Oh - if I want to attempt to diagnose by swapping out the cyl 1 coil for either 2, 3 or 4 and then running the car, I'm not going to knacker anything am I?

Just had another quick look on the offchance that I had distubed the connectors - I don't want to speak too soon, but it's possible it may have been fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the plug on the coil. I'm going to have me dinner, clear the fault code and go for a drive.

Have you logged for cylinder misfires iirc it's blocks 015 and 016?

I haven't as I didn't want to drive it - it's definitely 100% misfiring (sounds like one of those 3 cylinder corsas).

If it's misfiring at idle then just log the car with it idling to see what cylinder you're getting the misfire on.
When did you last change your plugs as old plugs can cause a misfire...
