Will be even better when they unify your apple id with your mobile number!! Can't see any difference between the beta version so far!

Going to install Mountain Lion this evening but thought it would be best to back up the MBP beforehand, only about 150GB left to back up/2 hours left.

Has made a noticeable difference to my early 2011 i7 Mac Book, start-up and shut-down are much quicker and bigger apps like Final Cut Pro X seams more responsive too.

Battery life also appears to be better  :happy2:

Steve do you ever turn your laptop off?

Personally I leave mine on all the time. Before this update it had be on for 50 days, no system slow downs. Try doing that on a pc :-)

Maybe once a week I will shut it down if I am going away etc  :happy2:

My iMac at work was on for 90+ days without a reboot from the start year and was only shutdown as we were moving office

.
My iMac has only been Shutdown twice in the last 9 months. I just put it to Sleep when not using it.

Now that Mountain Lion has been released I have yesterday updated from Snow Leopard to Lion. I won't bother to update to Mountain Lion until the next Mac OS is released - That way there are less bugs and my Logic Pro plug-ins etc still work.

I personally find very few bugs, if any, in OS updates these days.

....True about less bugs but it's surprising how many third-party developers take such a long time to catch up, especially with plug-ins for Logic Pro (Waves, for example). I tend to follow the advice of very experienced professionals who don't move up the Mac OS ladder until very late in the cycle. It depends what you use your Macs for.

I think that Lion only reached 10.4 but Snow Leopard, great is it is, reached 10.8.

Also, as I regularly move Logic song projects to and from home studio to a close friend's pro studio, our Mac OS's need to match. I'm not advising that everyone should do as I do but only that it's wise not to jump in on any dot zero version of any software. I even waited a month before updating my iPad iOS.

Reading about Mountain Lion it seems to concentrate more on how it drives consumer Apps rather than professional Apps.

True. Adobe would get crucified if they didn't move with OS upgrades, so I'm generally OK.

Useful to create a USB Flash drive for future use - saves having to download the 4GB again if you need to reinstall!
