Xtrons Sat Nav/Bluetooth unit
« on: October 04, 2017, 08:02:01 pm »
Any experts please  :happy2:

Not owned the Mk5 GTi long and it's my first one, car came with a Xtrons SatNav & Bluetooth, my car is '56 reg (BWA)..seems to not fire with first click in a morning but after initial run starts immediately?!

I was wondering if anyone knows if this could be battery drain..car not started is 12.45 volts DC & drops to 10.80 DC volts when cranking but looks like a brand new battery

I always prefer the genuine stuff personally, did ask the seller for original head unit which he said he had, but totally forgot to take it from him with all the excitement of buying it haha   :ashamed:

RCD300 I think he said original one was

Mine had same issue check to see if its been installed by using ignition live wire as Vw don't have it in there setup as I had the same problem with mine and went and got the right harness with the canbus attached with it and that sorted my battery drain with the correct harness not had any issues since .

Thinking on, the Xtrons unit I have fitted must be wired using the ignition live
As it will only come on with the key in ignition?!..turns straight off when key removed & wont switch on with the unit on/off button if key not in ignition

Just used VagCom to scan and see which canbus module my car has and it’s
the 1K0 907530 H version, anybody know if I’d be better of upgrading to a later canbus version for my Xtrons satnav unit (standard factory unit was rcd300) or should this be ample!
Or I could buy a later canbus revision and just code it in if it’s just a matter of fitting and then copying the coding via VCDS
