Tar deposits

Up from my wheels, on my door etc...

whats the best way to remove this stuff!!

i have tardis, but really don't want to use that on the paintwork.
I have the clay but don't like rubbing it on the paint that much.. lol..

wondered what methods others used?

Tardis is fine mate,use it on mine.Just wash straight away & then re-polish & wax etc.

That's a bit like saying I want to wash my car but I don't want to use water on it.

Use the tardis to dissolve the tar. You will need to rinse it off and apply LSP. There's nothing wrong with spot removal of tar.

I had a HUGE splodge of pine sap on my roof the other day, freaked me right out as I really couldn't move it. It was totally clear too so thought it was the paintwork bubbling up underneath. If you tried to carefully 'chip' away at it with a fingernail it just broke up and glued itself to another bit of the roof!  

Used some of the stuff below and it got rid of it pretty fast just using a applicator pad and some very gentle elbow grease!

Neither is tardis nor clay unless you ingest the stuff.

lol tardis is fine mate. Other products you could look at would be Auto Finesse Obliterate or Car Pro Tar X

I found claying removed tar much easier than any tar remover I've ever tried.

Claying doesn't remove tar so much as move it around on the paintwork and cause scratches. Wouldn't recommend it.

Wd40 makes tar just wipe off that's what I used comes off easy

Tardis isnt corrosive to sound paint work. Its the correct tool for the job.

Claying will increase the risk of marring if you have a lot of tar without being broken down by tardis first.

Stealthwolf is exactly right, listen up, he speaks the truth! You would be a fool to go straight to clay without using tardis if you have it.

I've only ever tried WD40 for engine bay plastics before I found it could potentially weaken them as it contains both solvent as well as lubricant. Having never tried WD40 on paintwork, is it easy to remove?

Yea I just wiped it and quick detailed it but I did clay it anD polish n wax it not long after dunno if affected the wax thou but it did just take the tar right off

Thanks for the tip stealthwolf, will bear that in mind. Wasn't claying specifically for the tar, just doing the whole car, but it just seemed to remove the few tar spots that I had really easily.
