Do coilovers compress less the shocks and springs ?
« on: August 04, 2012, 02:15:31 am »
Hey Peeps !

Do coilovers compress less the shocks and springs ?

Currently running lowtec springs on standard shocks, this sometimes scrapes on the square humps when I have passengers or stuff in the boot.

Wanted to know if coilsovers handle payloads better i.e less compression under same weight compared to springs and shocks

The amount of compression is no question if coilover or not, just a question what spring rates
(how stiff) and damping rates you run and what the weight of your car is.

Soft springs + soft stock dampers + heavy R32 + passengers = too much compression on bumps.

You will at least want stiffer Bilstein B6/B8 shocks or even better stiffer springs + Bilsteins.  :happy2:

Thanks for that !

I was actually thinking of getting bilstein coilovers, may have to just leave the drop at 20mm all round, have just a slight drop.
