Do I need a manual for a radio
« on: July 31, 2012, 10:38:51 am »
Been looking for an RCD510 and speaking to someone selling one on ebay but it doesn't come with a manual.  I know - sounds dodgy to me as well !
If I was to buy it I am just concerned about fitting it and using it without a manual.
I have an ipod dock i the centre arm-rest.
Would it be easy enough to get up and running ?
I know most of us wouldn't use the manual that much anyway but just want to check before I decide to buy it or not.

Thanks

thanks, that was for the RNS510 but I guess that would cover most if not all of the RCD510 functions ??

Manual for RCD510 on pdf for you to download.

http://www.davecandoit.com/Cars/vw/RCD510Manual.pdf

You might also want the aerial adapter, from eBay (assuming your upgrading from a RCD300/RCD310), they are about £10.

Make sure it has a security code with it, it's just a 4 digit number which you enter into the head unit once it's installed. Without that I believe only VW will be able to help, could be wrong though.

Hope that helps  :happy2:

Have a look on this website, loads of different options re aerials for DAB. Would recommend an internal glass mounted one (goes vertically on the front windscreen on the far left side, passenger side)

Below is a link to the various aerial options

I have the stick on one works fine.

You don't need the aerial adapter for the am/fm. Have posted this before but the plastic pieces on the ends of your original aerial leads come apart if you slide out the small purple pieces and then the remains unclip. You are left with just the metal connectors which push straight into the back of your new radio :happy2:

It was me who posted the PDF for the RCD510 as I did not have one originally and found the link :happy2:

If you are a man - no (i'm surprised you're having to ask)

If you are a woman - it's up to you

^^^^ I love a good manual, have read my Golf manual from cover to cover (can't remember any of it) and found out loads of useless useful things.

It's instruction on flat pack assembly that get ignored in my house!  :signLOL:
