Service notice question

Had car for 4 months and done circa 2.5k, car was serviced and reset before I bought it. Turned key this morning service reminder came on saying service in 8.5k or 20 days? Understand the mileage bit changes with driving techniques etc but what is the 20days thing all about? Car has 97k
